Preston Mill Weir, East Lothian

Restoration of an historic weir across the River Tyne and related mill lade, pond and tail race for National Trust for Scotland and in consultation with SEPA and Forth Salmon Fisheries Board. As far as practicable stones used in its original construction were collected from the river bed and re-used. Breaches were re-formed with a mortared rubble core and finished to match the existing face work with a hydraulic lime mortar. A new Larinier type fish pass was incorporated to aid the migration of fish upstream.
